Presentation
The "véloroute" ("bike-road") is a signposted itinerary created so that cyclists can travel upstream alongside the Lot river.
80 kilometres long and practically flat, the route goes along little-used small roads chosen for their charm. The véloroute will guide you through the orchards where the famous Agen prunes originate, lead you along picturesque little streets and beckon you to laze around on the banks of the Lot.
In fact all along the way there are places to stop and relax by the river - something kids generally love!
Exploring the area will be enhanced by trips around the places you stay. An opportunity to gain a little height over the valley to visit the windmills, clock-towers, chapels, castles and mediaeval villages dotted about the hilly surroundings.
Things to see:
Visit the old city and the castle of Comarque.
Dinner and night in pretty guesthouse with its own pool

Around Castelmoron and up to the Magic Cauldron (Chaudron Magique)
14.5 km stage with total uphill 160 m. Level 2/5. Estimated time of 2hours.
Nice ride through farmland close by the Valley of the Lot. There's market gardening, grazing land, and of course plum tree orchards. You make your way along narrow roads going through pretty hamlets to come to the Chaudron Magique.
This round-trip is a good warm-up ride and also leaves you enough time to visit the ecological farm.
Dinner and night in charming guesthouse with its own pool.
D3
Around Castelmoron towards the Museum of the Prune!
21 km stage with total uphill 190 m (level 2/5). Estimated time 2 hours 30 minutes.
Nice ride starting from Domaine de Rambeau. You'll be discovering the Véloroute or Bike Road as well as the banks of the Lot River. There's also the possibility of visiting the Prune Museum. The prunes of Agen are known here as the black gold of Aquitaine, and are considered part of the agricultural heritage of the South West of France. The Ente Plum, once perfectly ripe, is dried naturally and becomes a delicious prune with fine flesh.

This is probably the most difficult stage of your holiday. You set off across the hills of the Lot. The roads are fairly tortuous and tough on this ride. There are historical monuments dating from the 11th century, local farms typical of the Occitan region, the Foie Gras Museum, winecellars and more...
In fact it's a wonderful day out under the benevolent watchful eye of the Basilique de Penne d'Agenais.

My husband and I have traveled extensivly. Safran is, by far, the most accomodating tour company. They were there for us from beginning to end ensuring that our holiday was "magnifique" !
Ideal for recharging your batteries and unwinding. The escape is total. You can only discover the paths by bike or on foot, which makes a change.
The accommodation is top notch.
Thank you for your responsiveness to our request. The day before for the day after!

Safrantours, c'est l'assurance d'un séjour réussi avec des itinéraires adaptés, des hébergements atypiques et une façon de voyager qui convient à tous les âges.
The Gironde possesses one of the finest cyclepath networks in France. You can go all the way round the Arcachon basin with the Eurovelo1, which is a sure temptation to do just that!
You'll see grand Atlantic beaches, wild and free, which…
Your holiday along the Eurovelo 1 begins at the very heart of the Breton salterns of the Vendée between sea and mainland. The scenery is astonishing, with water meadows and polders cut through by canals and drained by salt channels.
