From Toulouse to Carcassonne, these four days will give you the chance to get away from it all in a warm, bucolic setting, as you cycle along the Canal du Midi to the rhythm of the locks and barges. Perfectly adapted for cyclists, this part of the route is one of the most beautiful. Admire the majestic plane trees on the banks of the river, enjoy a cassoulet in Castelnaudary and discover the fortified city of Carcassonne. A cycling holiday with something for everyone!

Program : The Canal du Midi by bike in 4 days

  • D1 Arrival in Toulouse

    Arrive in Toulouse at the end of the day. After checking into your room, set off to explore the Pink City.

    Dinner and overnight in a 3* hotel.

  • D2 Cycling from Toulouse to Castelnaudary

    65 km - Duration : 4h30

    It's time for your first day of cycling. You'll immediately fall under the spell of the plane trees lining the riverbank. A few barges bob up and down the river, boaters waving at you! The atmosphere is just right, and you'll enjoy every kilometer of this cycling route. Take a picnic break at a lock - the mechanism is well worth seeing in action.

  • D3 Cycling from Castelnaudary to Carcassonne

    53 km - Duration : 3h30 

    Head for the famous city of Carcassonne. Leaving Castelnaudary, you take a short tour of the Grand Bassin before cycling to the Canal du Midi. Through fields and forests, you continue your journey in a peaceful atmosphere.

    When you arrive in Carcassonne, put your bikes down at your accommodation and head for the walled city in just a few minutes. The narrow streets, the impressive moat and the beauty of the cathedral will not leave you indifferent.

    Dinner and overnight stay in a guesthouse or 3* hotel just a stone's throw from the walled city.

  • D4 Departure after breakfast

    Enjoy a delicious home-cooked breakfast, then head for the train station to return to Toulouse to pick up your vehicle.

    If you use public transport, we can adapt this service to your needs.

    Your long weekend is over, and you'll return home with superb memories of your Occitan adventure!
