Discover the castles of the Loire Valley by taking the Loire by bike itinerary, one of the most beautiful cycling routes in France. An organized trip by bike that takes you from Chaumont-sur-Loire to Saumur. Along the bike paths you will discover the wonders of the Loire Valley, a true jewel of the Renaissance, classified as a world heritage site by UNESCO. During this cycling vacation, subtly mixing of culture and nature, you can visit the most famous castles of the Loire Valley such as Chaumont, Amboise, Azay-le-Rideau, Usé, Villandry...

Amboise is an essential stopover on the Loire Valley bike tour. It will welcome you for the first night of your stay.
Depending on your arrival time, take advantage of your time for a walk in its narrow streets lined with half-timbered houses, a visit of its emblematic castle or a discovery of the Clos Lucé, last residence of Leonardo da Vinci.

Bike route along the Loire River to Chaumont-sur-Loire
24 km stage – uphill : 160 m - Estimed time : 2h00
Start your day by visiting the Clos Lucé, the former residence of Leonardo da Vinci, which will immerse you in the universe of this genius artist. Get back on your bike and ride along the Loire River towards Chaumont.
Take advantage of your ride to admire the natural landscapes of the region before visiting the Château de Chaumont, Catherine de Medici's estate, its stables and its sumptuous gardens.
To finish your day, go to the Onzain train station where you can take the train to return to Amboise in complete peace.

Cycling itinerary along the Loire River from Amboise to Tours
34 km stage – uphill : 166 m - Estimed time : 3h00
After visiting the magnificent Château d'Amboise, it's time to get back on the road and continue your journey along the Loire River by bike. You start by riding along the majestic river before heading to the hillsides of Montlouis, where you can admire the beautiful vineyards of the region. After a few kilometers, you arrive in the charming city of Tours, which welcomes you with its lively streets and friendly atmosphere.

Cycling itinerary from Tours to Azay le Rideau
40 km stage – uphill : 210 m - Estimed time : 3h30
You start your day by following the course of the Cher, which leads you to the gardens of Villandry before arriving at the medieval fortress of Langeais. Then you leave the banks to discover the castle of Azay-le-Rideau. The latter was built on an island in the middle of the Indre River, which gives it a unique and bewitching charm.

Cycling itinerary from Azay le Rideau to Chinon
36 km stage – uphill : 20 m - Estimed time : 4h00
This new day by bike is dedicated to the discovery of the most famous castles of the region, notably the one of Rigny-Ussé which inspired Charles Perrault to write The Sleeping Beauty, as well as the fortress of Chinon which dominates the Vienne river. You will have the chance to explore the famous vineyards of Chinon, one of the most appreciated wines of the Loire.

Cycling itinerary from Chinon to Saumur
38 km stage – uphill : 74 m - Estimed time : 3h00
Today, you pass through the picturesque villages of Candes-Saint-Martin, considered one of the most beautiful villages in France, as well as Montsoreau and Turquant, which host charming cafés and art stores. You will then leave the Chinon region to reach the Saumur region, where you will discover the famous troglodytic cellars of Souzay. Finally, you will end your journey in beauty in the beautiful city of Saumur with its fascinating architecture and rich historical heritage.

Breakfast and transfer to Amboise
After your breakfast, you leave your rental bikes at the hotel and go to the train station of Saumur for a train to Amboise to get back to your vehicle.
