From Royan to the Ile d'Oléron, via the famous vélodyssée along the ocean, you'll discover all the gems of this multi-faceted region. Cycle along the beaches or through the marshes, let yourself be guided through the Landes pines, learn about the local heritage or sample some oysters. These are the holidays you're really going to enjoy!

Loop around Saint Palais towards St Georges de Didonne
30.4 km round trip (3hrs30mins)
You spend the whole day on a cycle path exploring numerous ocean bays along the Royan coast. A round trip, this outing leaves you with plenty of time to take a break when and where you fancy, maybe enjoy an ice cream on a shady terrace, (or both!)
Towards the end of the ride, you could be tried your hand at sand-yachting in an exciting vehicle propelled along the beach by the ocean breezes.

Loop around Saint Palais towards Mornac sur Seudre

Cycling between Saint-Palais-sur-Mer and Mornac-sur-Seudre is a great way to explore the Côte de Beauté. You'll discover a variety of landscapes, including the sea, marshes, forests and picturesque villages, while enjoying the sea air and the authenticity of the area. Little by little, you'll reach Mornac sur Seudre, one of the most beautiful villages in France. It's a little gem with cobbled streets, old houses, small art galleries and, of course, little oyster-farming huts.

From Saint Palais to Ronce-les-Bains

Today, you take one of the loveliest portions of the Vélodyssée. Leaving Royan and the Gironde estuary, you cycle along the beaches of the Atlantic Ocean on an itinerary reserved exclusively for cyclists and ramblers. No cars, no noise, unless you count the murmur of conversation, occasional laughter, and the sound of breaking waves. You go through the Forest of La Coubre, vast pinewood reminiscent of the Landes region, and you may like to visit the celebrated lighthouse listed as a historic monument. In the evening, you will be greeted at your ocean-facing hotel.
At the end of the day, a taxi will take you directly to the Ile d'Oléron.

Loop around Île d'Oléron towards La Brée les Bains

Driven by the sea winds, let yourself be guided through the unspoilt landscapes of the island to La Brée les Bains. From here, you'll discover one of the last working mills on the island. Magnificently restored in recent years, it offers a breathtaking view of the salt marshes and the sea on the horizon. The sound of the wind in the blades will lull you to sleep on the way back, where you're sure to discover other mills bearing witness to the island's rural and maritime past.

Loop around Île d'Oléron towards Château d'Oléron
34.5 km (3hrs45mins)
Leaving the shores of the ocean, you'll soon arrive in Saint Pierre, the charming capital of the Ile d'Oléron. Its picturesque narrow streets and local market soon give way to a wilder landscape, winding through the middle of a protected area, ideal for observing the local wildlife. The wooded paths will take you through the oyster beds, the saltwater basins where the Marennes-Oléron oysters are bred. Don't finish the walk without sampling the oysters!

On longer holidays you change accommodation every three days, which gives you the chance to better explore your surroundings or simply take your time and relax...
B&B accommodation is in either 3 starhotels chosen for their atmosphere, warm welcome and environmental and architectural setting.
For technical reasons, we do not propose the evening meals. However at each stage, you'll find there are plenty of different places to eat.
